Basic
Requirements
The
Master of Information Systems (M.I.S.) degree program focuses on the
design, implementation, operation, and evaluation of complex systems
of people, organizations, and computers. All M.I.S. students must
take a minimum of 33 credit hours (see the Credit Distribution Table).
Working
with an advisor, each student develops a program of study that includes:
a firm grounding in the theory and design of information systems,
supporting coursework in computing technology, specific work in systems
analysis techniques, and an exposure to organization theory and behavioral
science. Most important is the career-track electives requirement,
by which a student devotes extensive attention to the area of electronic
commerce in distributed databases, multimedia, mobile computing, and
web-based electronic commerce applications. Written and oral communication
skills are stressed in the program. For more details and specific
requirements see the MIS degree requirements
